VIP is looking for a Systems Engineer to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure in Colchester, VT.  You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security on the VIP systems. Qualified systems engineers will have a background in IT, computer engineering, or systems engineering and analysis with 3 to 5 years experience.  The primary role will be the support of x86 hardware running Windows and Linux (mostly VM based), networking equipment (primarily Cisco), and other supporting applications within our infrastructure.

  • Enterprise level skills and awareness are vital. Being very detailed oriented with an understanding and appreciation for change control and proper documentation needed.
  • A proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux & Windows based environments is required. Knowledge of general infrastructure concepts such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory is also necessary.  Additional responsibilities will include the support of reverse proxy servers (ie. HAProxy), web servers (ie. Tomcat), and other applications within our infrastructure. Experience in process automation and/or scripting highly desirable.
  • Initial duties will include user management via Active Directory, backup of our Windows & Linux servers, and provisioning of new servers.  Duties will expand to configuration of reverse proxies, support of applications (in-house, open source, and enterprise software), and general infrastructure configuration.
  • Once a deep understanding of the VIP infrastructure is achieved, it is expected that the individual would assist in researching new tools and services, and would be able to run a deployment project from beta testing to full deployment.
